Monica is a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison Honors College with a degree in Social Relations and Public Policy. Monica has always been interested in how local government can best serve its residents. As a Commission Aide to two different Miami Beach Commissioners, Monica knows how our city works or does not work from her first-hand experience helping hundreds of residents with their problems.

Monica is a leader who has repeatedly stepped up to the plate with common sense, experience, diligence, and a solution-based attitude. She believes in helping her neighbors for the benefit of the whole community.  As our Commissioner, Monica Matteo-Salinas will achieve greater results for our residents, both inside and outside City Hall.

As a former board member and former board chair of the Miami Beach Community Development, Monica has hands-on experience with affordable housing in Miami Beach.

As a result of her service to Miami Beach United, Monica understands the complexities of our community’s fabric and develops consensuses to move it forward.
